Who Pays for Mercy LIFE?
PACE programs are funded by both Medicare and Medicaid or private payment. There are no out-of-pocket charges if participants qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid only. For participants who do not qualify for Medicaid, there is a flat monthly fee.

Is Preventive care covered?
Preventive care is not only covered it is encouraged. The focus of every PACE organization is to help you live in the community for as long as possible. To meet this goal, Mercy LIFE focuses on preventive care. Although all people enrolled in Mercy LIFE are nursing home eligible, only 7 percent live in nursing homes.

Is Transportation provided?
Mercy LIFE provides transportation to the LIFE center for activities or medical appointments. You can also get transportation to appointments in the community.

What if my health limits my ability to come to the Center; are there in-home services I would receive?
Those who are eligible will receive in-home care services (these services must be necessary and you must be approved by our inter-disciplinary team to receive them), including but not limited to:

  • Personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing)
  • Light housekeeping

What about my personal doctors?
Mercy LIFE participants agree to receive all health care services exclusively through the inter-disciplinary team made up of a physician; clinic and home-care nurses; social worker, physical, occupational, speech and recreational therapists; health care aides; and transportation staff.

As a participant of Mercy LIFE, medical care is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The goal of Mercy LIFE is to develop and provide a plan of care specifically for the participant, based on their needs. Coordination of medical care is part of that including hearing needs, eye care, foot care, medications, rehabilitative therapy, nutrition, recreational activities, home care and transportation.

What do I do at the LIFE Center?
One of our specially equipped vans will pick you up and take you the Center. You may get a medical clinic check-up, physical and other rehabilitative therapies, depending on your needs. You will also receive a hot meal, plus social and recreational activities with other participants at the LIFE Center.
